I’m a Writer… What’s Your Super Power?

About Me

I am a freelance writer based in Woodbine, MD. I have published more than 40 feature articles for magazines and websites on topics as diverse as firearms, movies, and healthcare, developed several online courses in the allied healthcare fields and am the associate editor for Plexus–a trade magazine for the medical transcription industry. I have also contributed six articles to a medieval encyclopedia.

After making a living as a freelance writer for several years, a story invaded my head and wouldn’t leave me alone. I found National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) one year and thought I’d get the story out of my system and go on with my life, but another story occurred to me, and another, and another. A few years later, I broke the news to my family that I wanted to go back to school. Although my family remembers fondly the days when I used to cook and do laundry, they have been extremely supportive anyway.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in History, German and Ancient/Koinae Greek from Albright College in Reading, PA (many years ago) and received a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Writing Popular Fiction in 2013 from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. I am a member of the Maryland Writer’s Association and the Historical Novel Society.

I have taken several online classes through ed2go. This ranks as one of the top two, and Jennifer also ranks as one of the top two. This instructor knows her craft and knows how to explain difficult questions and scenarios. She knows how to take difficult material and make it understandable.
I would take more classes taught by her.
LL, Coding student

“I am currently taking a face-to-face class, and I got totally lost. Jennifer really knows the material and was able to break it down into easily digestible packages. LOVED the course. LOVED the instructor. Would take from her again in a heartbeat. Thank YOU!”
BA, Coding student

“Jennifer is very knowledgeable of the curriculum and seems to know it front and back. If you want to know all the ins and outs of MT, she is the perfect teacher for your education.”
SW, Transcription student

“It was a pleasure learning about medical transcription from this instructor. I looked forward to each lesson as Jennifer shared her valuable knowledge and experience from actually working as an MT.”
